It will be presented at the Atlantic Theatre Festival in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, from July 27 to August 22, following successful runs at CanStage's Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto and The National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

This funny, lyrical account of a daring Acadian widow's journey home from exile is the Mother Courage of Acadian literature. At thirty-five, Pélagie is a survivor of the Great Disruption of 1755, when British soldiers deported Acadians who had farmed along the Bay of Fundy for generations. Splitting up families, the soldiers tossed men, women, and children pell-mell into ships and dispatched them to ports all along the eastern seaboard of the US and to Louisiana. When it was heard years later that the British would tolerate their return to Acadie, thousands loaded possessions and children onto handcarts and set out on foot. After fifteen years of working as a slave in the cotton fields of Georgia, Pélagie, too, has had enough. Drawn home as if by a magnet, inspired by her love of her family and of Beausoleil, a heroic sea captain, and determined to outrace the "Wagon of Death," Pélagie sets off to take her people on a 3,000-mile trek back to their homeland. Her single cart, pulled by six oxen, soon attracts scattered Cormiers and LeBlancs, Landrys and Poiriers, Maillets and Légers. Together, this caravan of colourful Acadians undertakes a ten-year journey up the Atlantic coast to their childhood homes.

It's OK

It was a history book that the author attempted to but into a novel. I think it would have been a shorter read if it had just been written as a history lesson. That being said, perhaps fewer people would have read it so novel form does draw more readers. It was a good depiction of this Canadian history that Britian should not be proud of and should be written so all will be reminded of the wrong that was done to the Acadians. At times I was not sure what was real or what was an outlandish tale told around the fire at night. I did skip words, paragraphs and had it not been my book club pick for Sept would have set it aside without finishing.
I ordered this book through Amazon.com and delivery was prompt and right to my door in SF. Great service!!

Thorough and informative

I am in the midst of reviewing as many books about the Temple Mount as I can get my hands on (there are dozens) in preparation for writing my own novel about Jerusalem and the Mount. Contested Holiness is a good basic overview of the subject that's about as balanced as it's possible to be on this fraught topic. My only beef about the book is that I wish the author had worked with a better copy editor. There are countless small typos throughout the volume, most of which don't affect the content until you get to Ch. 7 and it talks about the 6-day war having taken place in 1976 (should, of course, be 1967). This error is repeated several times before finally getting straightened out after a few pages. All in all, it's a worthwhile read, though, and an excellent source of background and research material on an endlessly fascinating subject.

Changed my entire mindset on how I was doing this business

I received an advanced copy of the book and all I can say is WHAT A GAME CHANGER! I've only been involved in network marketing for a few months now and like most people I quickly burned through my list trying to sell everybody a product or trying to get them into the business. Thanks to Eric I now understand it's all about educating and helping others. Now that I'm educating and helping instead of selling my business is starting to take off. I'll be ordering a couple more copies as gifts for others I want to see succeed. Thanks Eric, you made a difference for me.

A history of being PRO!

Its not often that you meet someone who has such a common sense yet sophisticated focused approach on what makes the network marketing profession....professional. Eric Worre is someone I met many years ago when I was asked to help in a dispute between two people who had partnered up in another network marketing company and what I remembered the most was the way Eric handled the situation to everyones satisfaction. That showed me a skill set that has only become stronger over the years as Eric has relentlessly worked to strengthen the best the profession can provide while pointing out the weaknesses along the way.

Never be afraid to point people towards Eric and his [...] site since he's very protective of the profession as a whole and wants it to be a collaborative place where many from different companies are not afraid to minge and share ideas about better ways for our profession to excel.

After reading an advanced copy of this book I knew this was the tool I wanted for all new and seasoned people on my team. After a 18 year hiatus from MLM, three years ago I decided my timing was right and in three short years I'm now in the top 100 of a billion dollar energy company. So much of what I do everyday to guide my team comes directly from the teaching/mentoring that Eric provides. Common sense direction that most people can relate to and a way to showcase how incredible network marketing can be for people when done right and done more importantly...professionally!

Kudos to Eric for his belief that, "Its a stone cold fact that we do have a better way"! And a personal thank you to Eric for letting me know its ok to be in network marketing, be proud to be in network marketing and I can even let my Mom know that I'm a professional network marketer!!

TESOL/ESL departments should have this

I have zero affiliation with the author and can say from a neutral standpoint that this book is truly brilliant.

I NEEDED this when I was teaching classes of 70+ back in Japan, and found that a lot of the organizational tactics of how to develop ideas were highly valuable. Later, more recently I can across Differentiate Instruction and to be very fair I feel Hess is presenting a lot of DI within the activities that allow us to cater to a lot of students at one time - with the same target language but acknowledging the fact that each student will have a different baseline proficiency. Hess does not get too deep into this - but gets into activities that simply work.

A language school and colleges with TESOL/ESL departments should have this, especially ones where large communicative lessons are the "institutes" goal.

Great Book for Mulitlevel Class Ideas and Tips

I really enjoyed browsing this book and will take many ideas from it. I've already use a couple of the ideas, and they were a great success.
It's not all just games and such either. there are suggestions for making learning stations that aren't teacher dependent, and suggestions on how to get the students involved in their own learning responsibilities.

I'm glad I got this book!

Tried and True!!

This book is tried and true!! The author, Natalie Hess, was my Master's degree advisor, so I had quite a few classes with her. She used EVERY ONE of the ideas in this book with our classes, and in turn, I've used them with mine in the States. Now I'm teaching English in Iraq, and the same techniques STILL work!! Whether you teach ESL, ESOL, EFL, or ANY class, these ideas will work for you!!! Thanks Natalie!!
