Dani Fraser is the twelve year old daughter of Beth Fraser that suffered severe burns in an automobile accident that put her Dad in the hospital on life support.
Beth and Mac are undeniably drawn to each other but will life past and present get in the way. Will they overcome the fears both harbor from the past? What will Dani think about all the changes in her life? Will Mac find the patience to convince Beth to give him a chance in her and Dani’s life? What is the Soldier’s Gift? Is it magic or a just an old ladies story?
I love this book, I was on an emotional rollercoaster from page one to the end. The characters are beautifully written by Lynne St James as is the story. A heartwarming touching story!

Beth is a divorced mother of a teenage daughter Dani and a co-owner of a bookstore with her best friend. While waiting for her ex to bring back their daughter from his visit she gets the call that most parents dread receiving. Your daughter has been in an accident along with your ex and is badly burned. Right then and their her life changes forever.
Mac is a soldier who has recently been badly injured from an attack while saving his team. He has lost the use of his sight and now needs a transplant to see again. Beth received a call her ex-husband has no chance of surviving and she now must make the choice to end his life. This is where fate steps in and intertwines Beth and Mac into each others lives.
The very beginning of the story had me sad. I could not imagine how anyone could handle either situation. The coincidence and fate bringing these three people who have been through so much heartache and tragedy really touched me. The story although is sad brings out the good in a bad situation and how with positive attitudes things can be just like before or even better than you had it. A truly heartfelt story one that will leave you with tears in your eyes so have tissues ready.

A Soldier’s Gift is one of those stories that hits all of your emotions. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry and it makes you root for the hero and heroine and long for a happy ending. Mac and Beth desperately need one another, they fit together perfectly, they just don’t know it, well maybe Mac does. It is an emotional rollercoaster that is so touching, especially when you bring in Beth’s daughter and her needs. Lynne St. James weaves the story with a perfect touch, allowing us to love the characters, invest in their story and turning pages late into the night. I highly recommend this book!
